What characterises the sea buckthorn berry?
The sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhmanoides L) belongs to the olive family and grows as a deciduous shrub with a very deep and far-reaching root system. Originally from Central Asia, the sea buckthorn's range extends almost all over the world. The undemanding plant thrives almost everywhere, but prefers calcareous sandy and gravelly soils in sunny locations. The plant is also cultivated in Germany - mainly in coastal regions. The oval, orange-coloured sea buckthorn berries are visible from early August to early December.
