What distinguishes the pomegranate?
The pomegranate (Punica granatum) is a plant species that belongs to the loosestrife family. The fruit has a diameter of up to ten centimetres and has many walls inside. The chambers contain the countless edible seeds, surrounded by a glassy-velvety seed coat.
Originally, the pomegranate comes from Asia and grows on shrub-like trees. In the meantime, however, the plant has also conquered the Middle East and the Mediterranean region.
The pomegranate is a very special and sought-after fruit. It was already mentioned in the Bible. The name is derived from the Latin granae (=grains). The pomegranate is a symbol of fertility, eternal youth, beauty and love and the fruit of Aphrodite.
Frequently asked questions
What do pomegranate seeds taste like?
Only the numerous seeds of the pomegranate fruit are edible; the skin is not suitable for consumption. They taste juicy, crunchy and sweet and sour. This makes them versatile in the kitchen.
The pomegranate pure juice from first pressing also offers a lot of uses. The pure juice is ideal for refining and decorating dishes and drinks. For example, create a delicious pomegranate fizz mocktail with Rabenhorst pomegranate juice.
What makes Rabenhorst Pomegranate juice so special?
At Rabenhorst, we hardly remove any natural cloudy substances from the juice, which means that the naturally occurring secondary plant substances of the pomegranate remain largely present.
In order to preserve the secondary plant substances as much as possible, such as colouring anthocyanins, a special filling technique is used. The heat effect on the product and the oxygen input into the product are kept as low as possible.
