This is what makes the aronia berry special
The aronia berry, also known as the black aronia, has been native to Eastern and Central Europe for over 100 years. The aronia berry originated in eastern North America. The shrubs grow wild there on different soils.
The aronia berry contains many different substances. They have a high content of secondary plant substances. The high content of secondary plant compounds in aronia berries is partly responsible for the typical tart flavour and above all the less sweet taste.
Frequently asked questions
What are the ingredients in Rabenhorst´s Aronia Juice?
Our pure aronia juice contains 100 % organic aronia berries that have only been pressed once. Since we remove hardly any natural cloudy substances from the juice, the naturally occurring secondary plant substances of the aronia berries remain largely contained. To preserve the secondary plant substances as much as possible, we use a special filling technique. The heat effect on the product and the oxygen input into the product are kept as low as possible. This is how we at Rabenhorst guarantee real natural taste.
What do aronia berries taste like?
Aronia berries have a fine-tart and sourish taste. Unprocessed, the berry is not a treat for everyone due to the many tannins.
Where does the deep red colour of the berries come from?
Natural plant pigments, which belong to the group of polyphenols, are responsible for the colour of aronia berries. Even diluted aronia juice retains the intense, dark purple colour that makes the fruit so special.
Where does Rabenhorst get the aronia berries for the organic Aronia juice?
At Rabenhorst we attach great importance to high quality . An important step on the way to our pure pure juices is the selection of the ingredients and accordingly the producers and suppliers.
We currently have contractual cultivation relationships with several growers. We obtain part of our aronia berries from a family farm in North Rhine-Westphalia. The farm relies on an ecologically sustainable mixed operation and does not use synthetic chemical sprays and fertilisers.
The remaining berries come from other German regions such as Rhineland-Palatinate and from Poland.
