Fruit encyclopaedia: fruit varieties from A to Z

Acerola, aronia or cranberry - we often encounter many of these fruits in processed foods. But do you know where exactly these plants originally come from, what vitamins the fruits contain or how they are harvested and stored? If not, you will find detailed information on the individual varieties in the portraits of our fruit encyclopaedia.

Acerola

The fruit, which comes from Central and South America, looks similar to our native cherries, has a tart taste and is a true vitamin C bomb.

Aronia

The black chokeberry berries are the size of peas and taste sweet and sour. Originally from North America, chokeberry is now also cultivated in Europe.

Cranberry

Die kranichartige Form der Blüten hat der Cranberry ihren Namen gegeben.

Native to North America, the cranberry plant belongs to the blueberry genus. However, the red fruits have a light-coloured pulp with a sour taste.

Haskap-berry

Pomegranate

Elderberry

Blackcurrant

Cowberry
