Research and organic farming behind Rabenhorst’s produce
As a producer of premium-quality fruit juices, Rabenhorst commissioned its first piece of research into organic farming at the Institute for Ecological Agronomy at Kassel University in 1969. This made it possible to push forward with its organically controlled farming activities.
Maintaining and recreating "Streuobstwiesen" (i.e. German traditional fruit farming areas) for our products is another issue to which we attach a great deal of importance. While these unique biotopes might not make sense from a production yield point of view, we believe in the high ecological value of these areas and the efficiency of meadows containing lots of different types of fruit trees. And it is set against this background that we support sustainable fruit farming by purchasing as much from these harvests as possible.
