Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

...about our Rabenhorst juices

In which juice do I find the highest proportion of fruit juice – in a fruit juice, fruit nectar or fruit drink?

Only non-diluted juices made from 100% fresh fruit are allowed to call themselves fruit juices. In German-speaking countries, a further distinction is made between pure juices and those made from concentrate. Juice concentrate is produced by separating all fluid components and re-adding water to the concentrate at a later stage. This is done to return the juice to its original strength. However, our Rabenhorst range is made up entirely of pure and non-diluted juices.

Fruit nectar is a mixture of fruit juice and fruit pulp with added water and certain sweeteners such as honey. Depending on the type of fruit involved, the minimum proportion of fruit required is between 25 and 50 of its percentage by weight. This works out at 50% for nectar made from apples, 40% for apricots, 25% for redcurrants, 50% for grapes and 25% for lemons. It is permitted to add up to 20% of sugar or honey to fruit nectars. At Rabenhorst we only offer nectars based on pure juices.

The minimum content of fruit juice is even lower in fruit drinks, i.e. the minimum proportion of fruit permitted in fruit drinks made from citrus juices is 6%, from pomaceous fruit 30% and from other fruits 10% respectively. However, there are no fruit drinks in the Rabenhorst range.
